Emergency Medicine Physician
A Level II Trauma Center in Dothan, Alabama is hiring an Emergency Medicine Physician to join its established ED team. The department handles over 60,000 visits annually and operates on a zone-based care model, with a dedicated fast track for lower-acuity patients and full trauma capabilities for high-acuity cases. The team includes board-certified emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, with residents and medical students rotating through the department.
Schedule:
Approximately 14 shifts per month, including a 7-day block off. Day, evening, and overnight shift options available, including nocturnist schedules.
Compensation: $300,000 to $430,000 base, plus productivity bonuses, $100,000 sign-on bonus, and student loan repayment options.
What You'll Do
Provide acute emergency medical care across the full acuity spectrum, from trauma resuscitation to fast-track cases. Manage critical and complex cases typical of a Level II Trauma Center. Work within a zone-based care model alongside emergency physicians, NPs, and PAs. Teach and mentor residents and medical students rotating through the department. Coordinate with on-call specialists, hospitalists, and trauma surgery for admissions and transfers.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Completed residency in Emergency Medicine
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM)
- Active Alabama medical license (or eligibility to obtain)
- Current DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
- ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience at a Level II or Level I Trauma Center
- Experience teaching residents or medical students
- Experience working in a zone-based or pod-based ED model
