THIS POSITION IS FUNDED YEAR-TO-YEAR

REPORTS TO: Principal and Deputy of Academics

Summary
  • Provides direction and administration of the institution by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Requirements

Completion of ethics training as required by Ala. Code Ann. §36-25-1, et seq., within 90 days of hire date. The ethics training video may be viewed at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and a copy of the certificate of completion must be provided to Human Resources for placement in your personnel file no later than 90 days after hire date. Applicants who have already undergone this video ethics training do not have to undergo the training again but must provide a copy of the certificate of completion to the Human Resources Department.

The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in providing effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the instructional program.
  • Assists in interpreting and enforcing federal/state laws and state and local board policies.
  • Assists the principal in personnel functions, including evaluations, classroom observations, and documenting issues and concerns.
  • Assists the principal in securing, maintaining, and managing material resources.
  • Assists in preparing and administering the school budget and supervising school finances.
  • Assists the principal in assuming scheduling responsibilities.
  • Assists in ensuring that students receive appropriate placement and services.
  • Plans and accomplishes personal and professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Assists in providing professional learning opportunities for staff.
  • We communicate the school's mission to students, staff, and community.
  • Assists in providing a safe, orderly environment that facilitates teaching and learning.
  • Assists in providing a climate of high expectations for staff and students.
  • Supervises faculty, staff, and students as designated by the principal.
  • Assume other reasonable and equitable job related duties as assigned by the principal, Deputy of Academics, and Superintendent.
Terms of Employment

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan. The length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.

Qualifications
  • Must have a valid Alabama Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or Educational Supervision Certification.
Salary

Salary schedules are found on the main Escambia County Schools website:  Below are items that may be necessary to complete your employment process and compute your annual salary. You are responsible for providing us with this requested information to receive your accurate salary.

  • We need verification of previous public school teaching experience. Use the following information when requesting verification of experience from your past employment at other boards of education:
    • Within the state of Alabama, experience must be verified on Supplement EXP.
    • Outside the state of Alabama, we must have a letter (on school district letterhead) or public school district form showing beginning and ending dates stating your years of service and position held while employed.
    • Credit is awarded for public school experience only; private, parochial, or similar experience will not be accepted.
    • Experience must be full time at least 50%-100% of the academic year.
    • Administrative credit will be awarded only for experience in the same position, i.e., principal for principal position as stated in the salary schedule.
    • Transfer Sick Leave:
      If you have sick leave from another state school system or another state of Alabama agency, you must have a Sick Leave Transfer form sent from your previous employer to our Human Resources department.
  • The Escambia County Schools awards a salary based on the highest degree earned, even if the degree is outside education. The degree must be verified on an official transcript & recognized by the Alabama State Department of Education.
