Part-Time Peer Tutor, TRiO

Job Overview

The position reports to the Director and involves providing tutorial services to SSS and/or UB participants. Peer tutors work individually or in small groups to answer questions on course content and provide study strategies as a supplement to instruction.

$15.00 per hour, not to exceed 19 hours per week.

• Provide individualized content and skill‑development tutoring to assigned students.
• Facilitate learning as a guide and coach to assist students to become successful, independent learners.
• Work directly with participants to provide academic assistance.
• Coordinate tutorial schedules.
• Relate pertinent information to TRiO staff to fill gaps in assessing academic progress.
• Assist with planning and implementing workshops and other program activities.
• Enter data in the TRiO database for reporting purposes to the U.S. Department of Education.
• Consult with TRiO staff regarding progress of project participants.
• Operate computer and specialized software and office equipment.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

• Report to work on time at the appropriate workstation during all scheduled work days and hours.
• Failure to report or report late without prior approval is unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action.
• Perform a productive full day's work.
• Ensure that service to students and the general public is a top priority.
• Demonstrate a considerate, friendly, respectful and constructive attitude toward fellow employees and students.
• Adhere to all College and System policies and procedures.

• Completion with a grade of a B or higher in the course of tutor is required.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required.
