Under the supervision of the division director, associate dean, and/or Dean, Instructional Affairs, the instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures to provide competent and effective classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places based on student demand. Posting date:
June 30, 2026. Salary:
Based on education and experience, commensurate with Salary Schedule D1 IA for 9 months (range: $46,590 to $72,709). Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule. This position involves performance duties for a grant-funded project and is contingent on continued funding. In the event that funds for this position are discontinued or significantly reduced, or if requirements for funding this project no longer include this position, the College shall have the right to discontinue the position.
Neither tenure nor non-probationary status may be attained in this position.
Additional salary for summer employment (D1 IA for 3 months, $14,384 - $22,488). Summer employment is contingent upon student enrollment and the needs of the College. Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.
Anticipated start date:
August 13, 2026. This position will be based initially at the Wallace campus in Dothan. More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential functions:
Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline.Display an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline.Connect their subject matter with related fields.Teach a course load appropriate to their field or discipline.Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize documented student learning.Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives.Evaluate and utilize classroom statistical data, course evaluations, and actual classroom success data.Incorporate core competencies into program or discipline content.Develop, update, and post course syllabi in a timely manner.Use instructional time wisely to meet course objectives.Stay current in their subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, or workshops.Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate.Essential function:
Student learning. Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria.
Establishes meaningful learning student learning outcomes for courses/programs.Develops and explains methods that fairly measure student progress toward student learning outcomes.Evaluates student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.Returns student assignments and tests in a timely manner.Maintains accurate records of student progress and submits final grade rosters each semester according to established deadlines.Demonstrates sensitivity to student needs and circumstances.Maintain action plans based on data to support constant and never-ending improvement in the instructional process.Essential function:
Support of College Policies and Procedures. Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC.
Teaches classes as assigned in a multi-campus environment as needed.Posts and maintains regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and to students for advisement and consultation.Serves as faculty advisor within the current College advisement system.Prepares, distributes, and submits syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program and divisional policies.Maintains confidentiality of student information.Substitutes for other instructors within field or discipline in case of an absence.Exercises stewardship of College facilities and materials.Essential function:
Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities. Performs other department activities to ensure efficient, high quality services are provided to WCC.
Serves on college, divisional, and program committees as assigned.Participate in meeting and events required by the college, division, and program administrators.Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from college, division, and program administrators.Support both part-time and full-time colleagues.Contribute to program and division curriculum development…
