Instructor Position
Under the supervision of the division director, program director, and/or Dean, Health Sciences, the instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures to provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places based on student demand.
Salary:
Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule D1 IA for 9 months (range: $48,454 - $75,617). Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule. Additional salary for summer employment (D1 IA for 3 months, $14,959 - $23,388). Summer employment is contingent upon student enrollment and the needs of the College. Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.

August 20, 2026. This position will be based initially at Wallace in Dothan, Alabama.
Instruction and Student Learning
- Teach assigned courses using instructional methods that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and achievement of course and program learning outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver instruction in classroom, laboratory, clinical, online, hybrid, or other instructional settings as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments consistent with approved curriculum and institutional standards.
- Utilize instructional technology and learning management systems to enhance teaching and learning.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours and be available to assist students outside of class.
- Foster a learning environment that values diversity, respect, professionalism, and academic integrity.
Student Assessment and Academic Advising
- Evaluate student learning through appropriate assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
- Submit grades, attendance verification, and other required reports by established deadlines.
- Advise students regarding academic planning, degree completion, transfer opportunities, and career pathways.
- Refer students to appropriate campus resources to support academic success and personal well-being.
Curriculum Development and Assessment
- Participate in curriculum development, review, and revision to ensure program quality and relevance.
- Assist in developing and assessing student learning outcomes at the course and program levels.
- Utilize assessment data to improve instruction and student achievement.
- Maintain instructional materials and recommend updates to textbooks, equipment, and other educational resources.
Institutional Service
- Serve on College committees and participate in departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings.
- Support College initiatives related to enrollment, retention, completion, workforce development, and community engagement.
- Participate in commencement ceremonies, registration events, orientation programs, recruiting activities, and other College functions.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, business and industry partners, and community organizations to advance College goals.
Professional Development
- Maintain expertise in the teaching discipline through continued education, professional development, certifications, scholarly activities, or industry engagement.
- Participate in required faculty development and institutional training.
- Remain current with instructional best practices, educational technologies, accreditation standards, and industry trends.
Compliance and Administrative Responsibilities
- Comply with all College policies, Alabama Community College System policies, accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state laws.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and employee information in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, including FERPA.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and maintain a safe instructional environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, Vice President, or President.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and current developments within the assigned academic discipline.
- Knowledge of effective instructional methods, curriculum development, and student learning assessment.
- Skill in developing and delivering engaging instruction using a variety of teaching strategies and instructional technologies.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues, administrators, and community partners.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse audiences.
- Ability to evaluate student performance, provide timely and constructive feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
- Ability to utilize learning management systems, educational technologies, and standard computer applications to support teaching and learning.
