Overview
We have an immediate need for a P.E. Structural Engineer in the Jacksonville Beach, FL area. We are also hiring in Dothan, AL. This is a direct hire position. For contract work, a W-2 hourly + OT option is available, typically for at least 3 months or as long as needed in the same locations. Expenses are covered for contract scenarios.
Base annual pay is $120k–$160k+, depending on experience. This position is OT eligible and requires a minimum of 40 hours per week with the ability to work independently.
- Project Management (approx. 15%) – Establish and maintain positive client relationships; lead scope development by interfacing with clients; communicate scope needs to designers or other engineers; obtain quotes for engineering, equipment, material, and services; develop bid packages, lead bid meetings and evaluate bids; control documents generated during the course of the project.
- Structural Design and Analysis (approx. 65%) – Serve as the Structural Design Leader on multi-discipline projects; coordinate with other disciplines to optimize total installed cost; interact with clients, vendors, and contractors to obtain information for design work; feed work to the design team; provide detailed guidance and review for design work by others; perform field work (inspect and verify existing field conditions, lay out new structures and equipment for efficient use of space);
perform calculations and create analysis models; work with applicable codes to ensure design compliance; prepare written technical reports. - Construction Support (approx. 15%) – Provide construction support during projects and/or mill/equipment shutdowns; provide field engineering support during installation; assist contractors with lockout and permitting; expedite material; coordinate activities with Maintenance, Production, and contractors; review installation for compliance with design documents.
- Required – Bachelors Degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering;
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; minimum of 5+ years of industrial design experience with concrete and steel; ability to perform calculations and create analysis models (e.g., STAAD). - Preferred – Pulp/Papermill experience is highly desired.
