Research Technologist

Bachelor’s degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Conducts physical, chemical and biological analyses of laboratory samples.
• Prepares and applies specialized solutions and reagents to tissues or related specimens.
• Analyzes data using quantitative and qualitative techniques, and prepares reports as directed.
• May perform molecular biology procedures, including DNA / RNA extraction from biological samples, PCR, plasmid amplification, immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation.
• Prepares and maintains detailed records, logs, and summary reports of all procedures and results, including graphs, scientific calculations, and statistical analysis.
• Supports basic laboratory experiments and assists lab staff.
• Assists the Principal Investigator in designing and performing experiments.
• Maintains laboratory in an orderly manner, orders supplies, and conforms to and follows appropriate regulatory safety policies and procedures.
• Regular and prompt attendance.
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
• Related duties as required.

Bachelor’s degree in a physical or natural science or equivalent combination of education and experience; admission to the position requires the ability to work a defined schedule and overtime as necessary.
