Mental Health Technician II - Dusy Foster Home This position will be located at our Dusy Home in Dothan, Alabama
12 HOUR PITMAN SCHEDULE 7PM - 7

AMWEEK I: MONDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAYWEEK II: TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAYPOSITION SUMMARY/FUNCTIONPerforms various patient care activities to care for the personal needs and comfort of the client as well as for the effective and efficient operation of the facility, while promoting a safe and therapeutic milieu. Staff is expected to teach basic living skills to clients daily, as well as perform various functions within the facility.

This position is an “awake” position; therefore, no sleeping is permitted while on duty.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
1. Prepares snacks/meals for clients as required by facility.

A. Prepares balanced diet commensurate with suggested menus if furnished.

B. Prepares food, serves and cleans for special meetings and occasions.

C. Comply with Spectra Care policies and procedures and/or other policies/guidelines when handling or serving food. Ensure proper protocol is followed at all times.
2. Orders, properly stores, and maintains appropriate quantity of food used in meal preparations.

A. Properly stores leftover food for later consumption.

B. Complete required food reports as required by Spectra Care policy, USDA policy, etc.

C. Maintain pantry stock and discard food upon expiration.

D. Train clients on proper food handling to include but not limited to preparation, discarding, etc.
3. Cleans and directs others in cleaning equipment, kitchen, dining facilities, individual’s personal space, and total home environment.

A. Adhere to health and sanitation standards set for personal cleanliness and cleanliness of all helpers.

B. Maintains appropriate cleanliness standards for the kitchen and its equipment enabling acceptable inspection scores.

C. Assist with changing bed linens and making bed.

D. Assist with maintaining resident laundry.

E. Ensure residents room (dressers, floors, etc) are clean and free of clutter.
4. Completes necessary documentation required to include but not limited to incident reports, client progress notes, basic living skills, etc.

A. Complete clerical forms as needed and required by Spectra Care and DMH policy.

B. Complete EMAR reports and documents as specified by Spectra Care policy.

C. Complete other reports to include but not limited to temperature reports (refrigerator), fire drills, etc.
5. Ability to safely operate system vehicles to include wheelchair/handicap vehicles when transporting clients.

A. Assists clients on and off of the vehicle, to include clients with limited mobility.

B. Correctly loading and unloading wheelchair users on lift to ensure safety.

C. Correctly secure wheelchair users on bus safely by ensuring wheelchair and resident is strapped in securely utilizing the correct belts to prevent injuries.

D. Conduct system vehicle maintenance checklist as required by Spectra Care policy.

E. Maintain cleanliness of vehicles.

F. Drive clients to various appointments, outings, as required.

G. Follow guidelines of Cell Phone policy while driving system vehicles.

H. Maintain gas receipts and turn in on a timely basis.

I. Maintain vehicle fire extinguisher, first aid kit and markers.

J. Be familiar with the Vehicle Operator’s Manual.

K. Maintain current driver’s license and safe driving record.

L. Follow policies for breakdowns, accidents, etc.

M. Do not drive under awnings or through drive thru on system vehicle.
6. Provide educational group and/or individual facilitation as required, teaching basic living skills.

A. Plans, organizes, and leads skills-based groups related to basic living skills, social skills, coping skills, self-esteem, relaxation, etc.

B. Document groups according to Spectra Care Personnel Policies and Procedures, Spectra Care Clinical Policy, including but not limited to the Alabama Administrative Code, CMS, and all other applicable regulating and contractual entities.

C. Assist individuals with basic living skill functions, teaching them as you assist.

D. Teach individuals about maintaining proper hygiene and grooming to increase level of functioning.
