Position: Mental Health Technician I-Dale County Day Treatment
Mental Health Technician II - Dale County Day Treatment This position will be located at our Dale County Day Treatment in Ozark, ALMonday-Friday 7am-3pmPOSITION SUMMARY/FUNCTIONPerforms various patient care activities to care for the personal needs and comfort of the client as well as for the effective and efficient operation of the facility, while promoting a safe and therapeutic milieu. Staff is expected to teach basic living skills to clients daily, as well as perform various functions within the facility.

This position is an “awake” position; therefore, no sleeping is permitted while on duty.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES/FUNCTIONS/TASKS:
1. Assist with the Day Treatment program.

A. Assist with activities of the program, including arts and crafts, field trips, etc..

B. Assist therapists with client curriculum requirements.

C. Assist with monitoring client chore assignments.

D. Report unusual client behavior to therapists.

E. Develop rapport with Day Treatment clients, forming a relationship in order to facilitate the therapeutic environment.

F. Maintains records of attendance for the program.
2. Assist with serving clients food and/or light snacks.

A. Comply with Spectra Care policies and procedures in regards to serving snacks and/or food. Ensure proper protocol is followed when serving.

B. Ensure that food storage, preparation and dining areas are kept clean and orderly.

C. Assists with the serving of snacks and/or meals.
3. Cleans and directs others in cleaning equipment, dining facilities, and program environment.

A. Adhere to health and sanitation standards set for personal cleanliness and cleanliness of all helpers.

B. Maintains appropriate cleanliness standards for the dining area and its equipment enabling acceptable inspection scores.
4. Completes necessary documentation required to include but not limited to incident reports, client progress notes, basic living skills, etc.

A. Complete clerical forms as needed and required by Spectra Care and DMH policy.

B. Complete EMAR reports and documents as specified by Spectra Care policy.

C. Complete other reports to include but not limited to temperature reports (refrigerator), fire drills, etc.
5. Operate and maintain System vehicles, to include wheelchair/handicap vehicles. Transports clients to and from Day Treatment.

A. Assists clients on and off of the vehicle, to include clients with limited mobility.

B. Conduct system vehicle maintenance checklist as required by Spectra Care policy.

C. Maintain cleanliness of vehicles.

D. Drive clients to various appointments, outings, as required.

E. Follow guidelines of Cell Phone policy while driving system vehicles.

F. Maintain gas receipts and turn in on a timely basis.

G. Maintain vehicle fire extinguisher, first aid kit and markers.

H. Report vehicle problems to supervisor.

I. Follow policies for breakdowns, accidents, etc..J. Be familiar with the Vehicle Operator's Manual.

K. Maintain Commercial CDL if required.

L. Maintain a safe driving record.

M. Correctly loading and unloading wheelchair users on lift to ensure safety as needed.

N. Correctly secure wheelchair users on bus safely by ensuring wheelchair and client is strapped in securely utilizing the correct belts to prevent injuries.

O. Do not drive under awnings or through drive-thru on system vehicle.
6. Assist other staff as necessary in dealing with clients in a day treatment setting.
7. Performs other duties including but not limited to:

A. Treat clients with respect and courtesy at all times.

B. Ensure necessary documentation is completed in a timely manner with minimal errors and in compliance with applicable guidelines and policies.

C. Receive and respond to inquiries promptly and courteously.

D. Meet with supervisor as established.
