Job Summary

Alliant Energy is continuing to grow and invest in modernizing its technology landscape, creating an opportunity for a Senior Infrastructure Platform Specialist to play a key role in shaping the future of its enterprise infrastructure. In this role, you will design and advance hybrid platforms that span both on‑prem and public cloud environments, directly supporting a business that is scaling and evolving.

You will drive platform reliability, resiliency, and operational excellence across virtualization and hypervisor technologies, enterprise storage, and data protection services. A strong focus of this position is reducing operational friction through automation, standardization, and continuous improvement. You will identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve service quality, and enable more efficient, scalable platform operations across the organization. This role is well suited for someone with deep, hands‑on experience in VMware or Nutanix, Net App storage, and enterprise data protection solutions such as Dell or Rubrik, along with a strong understanding of enterprise hosting architectures.

What you will do
  • Coordinate departmental projects and design, evaluate, recommend, build, test, and maintain medium to large computing services, and write specification documents for these systems.
  • Respond to support tickets and resolve technical issues escalated through the Help Desk within specified time frames, using troubleshooting tools and procedures to resolve issues, and maintain defined service levels.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the resolution of moderate to complex operational issues.
  • Comply with local, state, and government regulations such as SOX, NERC CIP, FERC, and TSA.
  • Maintain disaster recovery plans and coordinate the planning and execution of disaster recovery drills.
  • Lead creation and maintenance of technical documentation related to hardware/software in the client computing environment as well as training materials for end users.
  • Prepare communications and make presentations on system enhancements and/or alternatives.
  • Participate in Agile processes to gather requirements, develop solutions, and deliver products.
  • Assist other teams and help manage relationships with outside vendors.
  • Engage in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s values and help deliver on our purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in information technology or a related area.
Required Experience
  • Six (6) years of experience in PC support in a networked environment, including system hardware and software support.
  • Advanced administrative experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and software, standard application packages, imaging software, profile migration techniques, client computing hardware, peripherals, and general PC troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of software application packaging and distribution tools, methods and techniques.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of network operating systems, LAN characteristics, network topologies, components, protocols and services such as TCP/IP, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and routers.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply logical reasoning to situations and derive workable solutions for moderate to highly complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project team to the successful conclusion of moderate to complex technology initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
