Senior Business Systems Analyst

Job Summary

Are you a Business Systems Analyst who thrives on solving complex challenges and driving meaningful business impact? At Alliant Energy, you’ll play a key role in modernizing how we manage critical assets, leading complex initiatives across platforms like Maximo and partnering with business and IT teams to deliver scalable solutions. You’ll lead solutions from concept to implementation, working with stakeholders to define requirements, test enhancements, deploy changes, and continuously improve critical systems.

• Build and maintain business systems using Agile principles and processes.
• Ensure systems are operating as designed, evaluate processes and procedures, and assess requests for changes.
• Develop recommendations to solve problems and issues related to business system operations.
• Make decisions involving detailed knowledge of operational issues for complex initiatives.
• Assess and refine user stories, collaborate with scrum teams and product owners on solutions, develop test plans, conduct testing, and implement systems and improvements.
• Translate customer requirements into user stories and documents using Agile tools.
• Communicate with peers so stakeholders clearly understand user stories.
• Assist service and product owners in communicating business system initiatives and improvements.
• Understand business processes and establish standard procedures to ensure acceptable quality of business systems.
• Support end users in developing moderately complex reports and database queries; train analysts in tool use.
• Handle complex inquiries regarding technical aspects of business systems and coordinate with IT staff and other business units.
• Develop and roll out system application training for technical, departmental, and end users.
• Develop business cases for capital projects.
• Document procedures and maintain corporate compliance with mandated regulations.
• Support on‑call activities for system support needs.
• Engage in additional duties to support Alliant Energy’s values and purpose.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related area.

5 years technical or professional experience in business analysis, requirements analysis, requirements management, program management, product management, software design, software development, and software testing.

• Ability to work with and maintain highly confidential information.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Leadership ability to lead a development team to successful completion of complex technology initiatives.
• Proficiency with computer software programs (e.g., e‑mail, word processing, spreadsheet, project management).
• Experience with database query tools, automating testing tools, workflow diagramming, and reporting and retention tools.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.

Competitive pay, comprehensive health and retirement benefits, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off.

Pay Range: $85,000–$116,000. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program.
