OVERVIEW
The Vote Riders Southern Regional Manager (SRM) leads Vote Riders’ programming across the Southern region and grows our impact there. This individual works closely with Vote Riders’ National Field Director, our Department Directors and Deputy Directors, our Chief Operating Officer, and our Chief Executive/Executive Director to plan, manage, and execute Vote Riders’ voter
-focused field programs across the South.
The Southern Regional Manager will lead overall regional programming and partnership work, serving as the primary contact for state-based partners in the Southern states of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana, and will oversee the work in Georgia and Florida.
Vote Riders does not maintain a physical office, but candidates must be physically based in or willing to relocate immediately to the Southern region and be able to travel regularly within the specified states to be considered for this position. While candidates from the five southern states of AL, FL, GA, LA, and MS will be considered, we have a preference for candidates based in or willing to relocate to one of the three southern states in which Vote Riders does not currently have field presence – AL, LA, or MS.
The Southern Regional Manager reports to our National Field Director. This position will directly supervise the Georgia State Director and Florida State Director. This position will sometimes require you to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
This grant-funded position is funded through July 2027, with the possibility of an extension.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESPartner Outreach and Relationship Management
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement state-specific strategic plans for Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana for partner organization outreach and engagement, supporting a broad and diverse range of partners to incorporate and and sustain voter , assistance, and advocacy into their work.
- Partnership Development: Building on previous Vote Riders work in these three southern states, proactively identify, establish, maintain, and deepen meaningful partnerships with a growing number of regional, statewide, and local organizations. Support voter and assistance to at-risk communities, leveraging Vote Riders’
-focused resources, tools, and services. - Cross-Program Leverage: Leverage relationships with AL, MS, LA and regional partners for the benefit of other Vote Riders programs by forging connections and supporting partnership development in other states or nationally.
Voter and Community Engagement
- Community Events: As part of the states’ strategic plans, join virtual and in-person community events to engage voters and at-risk communities directly, offering voter and assistance as needed.

Collaboration:
Proactively coordinate with the Voter Outreach & Data Manager to co-host volunteer events with key partners, maintaining a presence for the full duration of the events to provide local expertise and technical support. - Media: Coordinate with the Communications and Digital team for website updates, and earned media opportunities. Follow brand and messaging guidelines, routing all media inquiries through the Communications Director or their designee.
Policy Monitoring and Engagement
Legislative Monitoring: Working in coalition with partners, and in conjunction with the Vote Riders Legal team, monitor state-level legislative developments and initiatives related to voting rights and voter .
Reporting, Staff, and Staff/Program Management
- Data and Tracking: Lead and maintain organizational resource development and reporting efforts for AL, MS, and LA field programs, including weekly reports, monthly reports, metrics collection, new partner tracking, website updates, and other updates as needed for internal and external purposes.
- Staff Supervision: Directly supervise, support, and mentor the Georgia and Florida state directors; track goals at least quarterly; provide regular feedback; review weekly reports; and hold staff accountable for all metrics, voter story submissions, event attendance, and data entry.
