Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Shift: Night Shift 6:00pm-6:30am
Location:
McCalla, Alabama
Pay Range: $32-$42 per hour (starting rate based on previous experience). $2.00 shift differential for Night Shift is not included in the pay range.

- Responsible for the manufacture of consumer foods which comply with all food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Understands and supports company safety policies and performs work related activities in a safe manner. Recognizes unsafe working conditions, coaches peers, and suggests new safety standards as appropriate.

Ethernet/IP Control Network; power distribution. - Operate, maintain, and clean production equipment. Follow, understand, and improve operational, maintenance, and sanitation standards in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) work environment.
- Perform equipment changeovers and sanitation activities.
- Perform preventative maintenance activities, work orders, and lubrication efficiently to maximize performance of plant equipment. Adjust maintenance activities as appropriate.
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation equipment and software.
- Proficiency in operation and troubleshooting of:
- Food manufacturing and utility instrumentation
- Electrical testing equipment
- Utilize drawings, prints, and instruction manuals to determine proper steps for equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
- Maintain and adhere to company drawing and documentation standards.
- Coach team members on electrical, instrumentation, and controls skills, machine functionality, defect identification and resolution, and equipment repair.
- Participate in training and qualification programs for designated line/area; ensure effective training and maintain consistent qualification standards.
- Use continuous improvement tools, including breakdown elimination, to eliminate losses and drive issues to root cause. Document, communicate, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Serve as owner of one or more technical, safety, or quality systems. Build technician skills and provide ongoing coaching.
- Create documentation such as SOPs, job aids, and PM improvements.
- Attend technical training sessions, vendor visits, and scheduled maintenance activities to increase knowledge in E&I technology (networks, servers, Factory Talk, motion controls, etc.).
- Attain and maintain low voltage qualification within twelve months of start date.
- Use a computer to input and maintain accurate records and data; utilize email and online training resources.
- Maintain accurate electronic database of repair and maintenance activities including parts usage and time tracking.
- Facilitate effective shift passdowns with the prior/next shift to discuss safety, quality, and production issues.
- Lead projects to improve safety, quality, or production results in a designated area.
- Work as part of a team and assist fellow employees when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be able to work:
Day Shift 6:00am-6:30pm or Night Shift 6:00pm-6:30am. - Associates or technical degree or training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience with electrical systems, PLC, motor and motion controls, SCADA systems, device and information networks, sensors, instrumentation equipment for manufacturing.
- Previous mechanical/maintenance experience preferred.
- Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMPs, and general instructions. Good verbal and written communication skills…
