Job Description & How to Apply Below

The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates (The League) is seeking a full‑time Manager of Advocacy Engagement to join our Advocacy team. We’re looking for a highly organized, collaborative professional with exceptional communication skills who can effectively manage complex projects, balance competing priorities, and clearly articulate impact, context, and program rationale. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, exercising sound judgment, assessing risk and escalation needs, and partnering with colleagues across the organization to drive meaningful advocacy engagement.

Any individual who can translate strategy into action, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results across complex initiatives—and who enjoys collaborating with diverse stakeholders such as nonprofit partners, financial institutions, and system‑level organizations—may find this role a good fit.

The League provides a platform for advocacy, collaboration, and innovation, representing nearly 400 credit unions in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia and their more than 33 million members, and over $467 billion in assets. The League advances and supports credit unions through advocacy, engagement, Foundation resources, and LEVERAGE products and services.

As the Manager of Advocacy Engagement, you will play a key role in advancing the credit union movement by educating and engaging credit unions on the importance of political and grassroots advocacy. You will develop and execute grassroots engagement strategies, including credit union outreach, educational programs, advocacy campaigns, and calls to action that drive participation and achieve departmental engagement goals. Working closely with the Senior Director of Advocacy Engagement, you will support fundraising strategy, execution, and operational processes while collaborating with state and federal lobbyists to coordinate advocacy efforts, mobilize advocates, advance legislative priorities, and increase PAC participation.

You will also support legislative initiatives at both the state and federal levels. This highly collaborative role requires frequent interaction with credit unions throughout The League’s footprint in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Assist with advocacy events and activities, coordinating calls to action and mobilization efforts across the footprint.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to member credit unions that emphasize legislative priorities, the importance of grassroots advocacy, and the value of electing future decision‑makers.
  • Support opportunities to increase grassroots development that engages credit unions with lawmakers.
  • Manage donor acknowledgement strategy.
  • Support accurate tracking of PAC contributions and related activities in coordination with the Advocacy team.
  • Maintain the grassroots and fundraising database to ensure data is accurate and updated.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with credit unions across The League’s footprint.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • What you need to be qualified for this job:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Political Science, Communications, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications, public relations, advocacy, credit union advocacy, government affairs, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook, as well as Adobe products.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and drive projects from initiation through completion.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to effectively communicate information to groups and stakeholders.
  • Work Schedule:

As a Manager of Advocacy Engagement, you will regularly travel throughout the League’s footprint in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Virginia to support advocacy initiatives, member engagement, and industry events. This role requires overnight travel, a valid driver’s license, and preferably access to reliable personal transportation.

    Benefits:

We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a team member‑centric culture, offering competitive salaries, and providing exceptional benefits. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

    • Health, dental, and vision insurance
    • Life and long‑term disability coverage
    • Flexible spending account
    • Generous paid time off and volunteer time off
    • 14 paid holidays
    • 401(k) plan with company match
    • Professional development funding and tuition reimbursement

At The League, we prioritize a strong workplace culture, work‑life balance, and meaningful team member engagement—all while staying dedicated to our mission of supporting credit unions and the communities they serve.
