Director of Operations
Position SummaryThe Lead School Nurse provides vital support to the functions of a school and the district. Here's a general overview of the responsibilities and duties:
- Be responsible for all district level state requirements and oversee other nurses
- Serve as the health advocate for staff, students, and their families.
- Work closely with school personnel in meeting the medical needs of students.
- Document all nursing and medical functions in the student information system.
- Develop health care plans for students with medical needs.
- Implement health program activities such as vision, hearing, spinal, height, weight, asthma, and scoliosis screening, medication administration and documentation, immunization assessment, and follow-up.
- Evaluate the health status of students and provide appropriate actions/treatments and referrals.
- Attend professional development required by the Alabama Board of Nursing, State Department of Education, and school district.
- Attend required school system meetings, faculty meetings, and IEP meetings.
- Maintain Current CPR Certification (CPR trainer certification desired)
- Assist with other duties and tasks that may be assigned by the administration.
- Train staff on the use of medical devices and procedures as appropriate
- Complies with the Nurse Practice Act and other professional regulations.
- Work with administration to develop and revise policies and procedures.
- Serves as a resource person upon request within the district or community meeting.
- Other assigned duties.
- Must meet background clearance requirements specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.
- College graduate with a degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a license to practice in the state of Alabama
- Must have or be willing to obtain multi state license
- Experience working within a school system
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
- Occasional lifting and moving of materials up to 50 pounds.
