Overview
Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118‑bed acute psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen, located on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from Florida and Georgia. The 55,000‑square‑foot facility also houses the New Day Academy, a state‑supported year‑round K‑12 school with vocational opportunities. Approximately 195 staff members work at the center.
PositionWe are hiring Registered Nurses for night shifts to provide direct care of psychiatric patients. The RN will use the established nursing process, including documentation, nursing groups, medication administration, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, patient admission and discharge, and use of restraint techniques when necessary.
Responsibilities- Provide nursing care to psychiatric patients (children and adolescents) following the established nursing process.
- Document patient care, nursing groups, and medication administration.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment by intervening with disturbed patients, using restraint techniques as required.
- Assist with patient admissions and discharges.
- Follow program guidelines and hospital policies.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing or hold a diploma and/or associate degree in nursing.
- Current registered nurse license in the state of Alabama.
