General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation, keep the work area clean, and execute company operational processes as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Safe & Secure Environments: Maintain safety priority, keep a high level of sales‑floor awareness, correct or report unsafe conditions, control building security, manage electronic article surveillance, guard cash office, eliminate clutter, test fire alarms, and respond to after‑hours alarms.
  • Customer Service: Treat customers, associates, and leaders with respect; demonstrate courtesy and friendliness; support the company brand; maintain a professional appearance and enforce the dress code; keep all areas clean and merchandised.
  • General Merchandising: Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards; receive and process merchandise; manage stockrooms; assist floor moves, promotional signage, re‑wraps, and loss prevention; maintain monthly presentation guidelines; secure and process back‑stock.
  • Loss Prevention: Enforce the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintain a strong floor presence, safeguard confidential information, keep the Public View Monitor, conduct “Code
    50” inspections, and maximize productivity by minimizing steps.
  • Front End Supervision and Operations: Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control, and other front‑end procedures; manage back‑up and break schedules; ensure all equipment works; maintain supplies and recovery; conduct go‑back compliance; teach the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Fitting Rooms: Keep fitting rooms clean, audit tags, ensure proper go‑back compliance, and secure returned merchandise.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform cash pulls, bank deposits, refund and approval procedures, payroll edits, scheduling compliance, and other tasks assigned by the Store Manager.
Qualifications & Special Skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Prior customer‑service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications.
  • Basic mathematical calculations common to retail.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, kneel, lift (up to 25lb for store duties, up to 20lb for stockroom shifts), use equipment, and climb ladders.
Physical Requirements / ADA

Use all store equipment, spend most of the time standing and moving, regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop, and occasionally lift more than 25lb. Certain duties may require other qualifications and skills.
