Trucking Foreman

APAC Alabama, Inc., part of CRH’s South Division, is a leading supplier of quality asphalt and Construction Services in the southeastern U.S. with operations in Alabama. Working with government agencies, private contractors, counties and municipalities, we produce millions of tons of quality construction materials and pave many miles of highways every year.

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in asphalt, paving, construction sand and gravel business, dispatching personnel and equipment, and providing instructions to employees.

• Prepares work schedules to ensure sufficient shift personnel are available for workload demands.
• Reviews dispatch operations to identify technical and operational training needs and recommend operational improvements.
• Familiar with delivery areas and assists drivers in finding jobsites.
• Determines travel times to jobs and best plant locations to service jobs.
• Familiar with different truck capacities, plant loading capacities, and product availability at various plants and sites.
• Ensures proper materials and adequate inventory levels are maintained at asphalt plants.
• Accurately records, maintains, and reviews driver time cards and logs driver service hours.
• Prepares company employment records for new employees and other required documentation.
• Ensures drivers follow company safety and environmental policies.
• Works with maintenance shops to schedule equipment repairs and services.
• Willing to work overtime when necessary.

• Directly supervises 3 to 15 employees in the Trucking Department.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

• High school diploma or GED required, and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Knowledge of database software (Command Alkon), internet software, order processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
