CDL A Driver / Filler (local)
Location:
Dothan, AL (Plant) - Filling industrial.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety
- Work with a forklift to move materials
- Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders and supplies
- Nurture courteous and professional relationships with customers
- Ensure deliveries are made in a timely manner
- Safely secure and unstrap cylinders for transport
- Make deliveries on customer property sites using a hand cart; this is a physically active role that keeps you moving throughout the day
- Drivers frequently exit vehicle as part of active routine
The production operator will contribute to the cylinder requalification, filling, and repair process and, with the aid of material handling equipment, assist in moving industrial gas cylinders to different areas of the plant and supporting the loading/unloading of cylinders from delivery trucks. The driver is responsible for safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers using a company-provided tractor trailer, bridging the gap between our plant and Airgas branch locations.
This position focuses on loading, unloading, and delivery of cylinders while fostering positive interactions with Airgas customers.
- Valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT (or ability to obtain within 60 days from hire date), Tanker & Airbrake endorsements
- Maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card & endorsements
- No more than two traffic convictions or two at‑fault accidents in the last three years; or no more than one traffic conviction and one at‑fault accident in the last three years
- No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven years
- Must be able to work in a drug‑free environment
- Be able to regularly lift 75 lbs and move more than 125 lbs with material handling equipment
- Must have two years of CDL A driving experience in the last five years
- TWIC card (or ability to obtain within 60 days from hire date)
- Forklift experience
