Senior Staff Accountant
This position manages accounting and financial reporting, prepares accounting information, analyzes financial information, and oversees the preparation of financial reports.
Essential job duties include overseeing and ensuring accuracy of financial records, preparing and reviewing financial statements, assisting with annual budget preparation, supporting administration and optimization of accounting and payroll systems, managing accounting activities related to restricted grants and federal funding, supporting internal and external audits, applying working knowledge of healthcare-specific accounting, providing support and guidance to finance staff, and participating in professional development.
Required minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting related field, 8+ years' experience in general accounting, and demonstrated strong understanding of GAAP accounting processes and principles. Preferred qualifications include direct experience with an FQHC, community health center, or non-profit organization, experience managing restricted grants, federal funding, and compliance reporting, proficiency with accounting systems, experience with 340B pharmacy financial accounting, and working knowledge of lease accounting and applicable ASC guidance.
Other required knowledge, skills, and abilities include demonstrated aptitude in basic accounting, ability to employ statistical/mathematical methods, ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, ability to perform a variety of assignments and make decisions requiring independent judgment, ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, knowledge of community health centers, expert knowledge of accounting practices and principles, computer literacy required with proficiency in use of Microsoft Office programs and accounting software, proficiency in Excel spreadsheets with specific ability to create and edit Pivot tables and graphs, ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently, demonstrated leadership skills with ability to build effective teams, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work environment is typical of an administrative office setting with no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Work occasionally requires extended hours to include evenings and weekends. Work requires ability to be contacted by cell phone during or outside of regular work hours.
