DISTRICT MAIL COURIER

Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Receives and distributes supplies and equipment, processes purchase orders and delivers received orders, mail and supplies to and from various district schools and locations. Serves as an information resource regarding the District’s warehouse policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Picks up mail at the U.S. Post Office each a.m.
- Picks up outgoing mail at Central Administration and district schools each am/pm. for delivery to schools and to the U.S. Post Office
- Delivers outgoing mail to the U.S. Post Office each p.m.
- Maintains an established delivery schedule to district schools and departments
- Picks up all printed materials completed at the District print shop and delivers to the appropriate schools and departments
- Picks up daily deposit bags from lunch money collected at all schools and delivers them to the bank for deposit
- Picks up blood borne pathogen containers at all schools on a needed basis and delivers them to the clinic for proper disposal
- Assist with issuing of vehicles, bus keys and credit cards per established procedures
- Is responsible for the opening and closing of the Warehouse when needed
- Delivers payroll check to all schools on a bi-weekly basis
- Assist with various related clerical and administrative office operations of office, e.g. answering phones, maintaining documentation
- Ability to operate a standard or automatic transmission motor vehicle and foot controls with two feet simultaneously
- Ability to use two-way communication equipment
- Ability to safely operate standard office equipment
- Ability to use a personal computer and learn required software
- Knowledge of rules and standards of safety
- Ability to calculate amounts
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies
- Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Valid AZ Driver’s License
- One to three years warehouse and driving experience
- Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
Computer Proficiency: Word standard, Excel standard and Outlook standard
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls. The employee occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk, bend and sit, and is occasionally required to stoop or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over twenty five pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Indoor warehouse environment and outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions and temperatures. Exposure to all types of traffic conditions. Exposure to noise, dust, gas and fumes. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy tact with employees, students and public.
