Equipment Operator

Summary of Functions

The Equipment Operator (Public Works) operates heavy machinery to maintain public infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, and public facilities.

• Operate graders, dump trucks, and excavators for public works projects.
• Support drainage and stormwater system maintenance.
• Perform snow removal, street sweeping, and debris cleanup.
• Inspect and maintain equipment daily.
• Ensure compliance with municipal and safety regulations.

• Reports to Public Works Supervisor.
• Works with streets and public works crews.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-4 years public works equipment experience.
• CDL license required or ability to obtain.
• Knowledge of public works safety practices.

• Outdoor work with frequent lifting and equipment operation.
• Exposure to weather, noise, and construction environments.

• Field-based in municipal and public works sites.

• Local travel daily between worksites.
