TITLE:
Teacher
Salary Range: $64,469.94 to $82,839.39
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for instructional planning, including providing written lesson plans and preparation in accordance with the objectives of the instructional program, establishing positive learning expectation standards, evaluating pupil progress and maintaining accurate records, implementing instructional methods, applying contemporary principles of learning theory and teaching methodology, using the range of instructional materials, participating in development and implementation of new teaching techniques, creating bulletin board and interest areas reflective of pupils' work;
exhibiting and applying knowledge of the curriculum content; participating in programs to improve student attendance; promoting anti‑vandalism programs; establishing and maintaining reasonable rules of conduct; maintaining accurate attendance records and seating charts; encouraging student growth; ensuring fairness in teacher‑pupil relationships; initiating appropriate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators and other personnel; communicating with parents or guardians and counseling pupils on progress;
participating in in‑service meetings and professional staff meetings; coordinating and attending class field trips; working in extra‑curricular and after‑school activities; utilizing appropriate resources available in the community.
- Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and coursework required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificates issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
- At least one valid teaching license issued by the Illinois State Board of
Education:
Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) properly endorsed for this position. - Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements; knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching; knowledge of classroom and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs; cooperate with school faculty and administration in developing and implementing an articulated program of instruction; work effectively with pupils, parents, guardians, staff members, and community representatives; understand physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils.
- Skill in application of contemporary principles and practices of teaching; good oral and written communication skills; good interpersonal skills; skill in exercising sound and professional judgment.
- Physical requirements:
light work, up to twenty pounds of force occasionally, or ten pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly; able to stoop occasionally, reach frequently, handle and finger objects occasionally, talk and hear constantly; frequent use of near visual acuity and occasional use of better visual acuity.
