Certified Catholic School Teacher — Exempt
Job Classifications- Certified Teacher: Holds an Arizona Standard Professional Teaching Certificate that is current and in good standing. The position classification is “Certified Teacher” and the pay classification is “Teacher on Contract”. To remain on contract, the teacher must maintain the certification in good standing.
- Certified Teacher – Pathway: Holds an Alternative Teacher Certificate through the Arizona Department of Education. The position classification is “Certified Teacher – Pathway” and the pay classification is “Teacher on Contract”. To remain on contract, the teacher must maintain the certification in good standing.
Under the direction of the school principal, the teacher supports the Diocese of Tucson in its mission to evangelize, catechize, and educate youth in a Catholic School environment. The teacher shall minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Recognize and support the Catholic Mission of the School, speaking, acting, and instructing consistently with Roman Catholic teaching. The teacher may not espouse doctrines inconsistent with the Church.
- Live Gospel values by being an active member of a faith community, modeling the teaching of Jesus in attitude and example.
- Build the School’s faith community by participating in and helping plan religious and service activities.
- Lead and participate in daily classroom prayer.
- Plan lessons that achieve academic and religious curriculum goals, as adopted by the School.
- Teach with current, thorough knowledge of academic and religious curriculum, communicating effectively with students, organizing materials, maximizing learning time, and motivating learning.
- Teach in an online learning environment as needed, using Google Classroom or other online platforms.
- Use effective evaluation methods directly related to curriculum objectives, consistently evaluating student progress.
- Establish a consistent disciplinary approach that promotes self‑direction and positive self‑image, sets high standards for behavior, and manages inappropriate behavior effectively.
- Maintain a functional and pleasant learning environment.
- Cooperate with School and Diocesan administration and with all staff to promote positive relationships with students and parents; attend faculty trainings and meetings promptly.
- Enforce School policies and regulations in a professional manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment in dress and general behavior; follow School dress code standards.
- Abide by principal directives and perform other assigned duties.
The teacher must demonstrate coordination, manual dexterity, normal mental and visual capabilities, and the ability to lift as required in a normal office environment.

Basic Qualifications- Strong commitment to the Roman Catholic mission and lay leadership; if baptized Catholic, must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
