APS has an immediate opening for a Lineman Journeyman at our Douglas Service Center
.
We will rely on your exceptional work ethic to be responsible for working on new construction projects and maintaining existing underground and overhead facilities.
Responsibilities / Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED
- Completed a Registered Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training) plus one year experience as a Journeyman Lineman
- Commercial Driver’s License (Class “A”) with ability to meet all DOT requirements. Must have at least a Class A CDL permit at the time of application, and a clean driving record.
- If applying with a CDL Permit, a valid Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions, e.g., airbrakes) must be obtained prior to the official transfer/start date.
- If applying with an out-of-state CDL, a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions, e.g., airbrakes) must be obtained within 30 days of the official transfer/start date.
- Experience working on all types of distribution lines including 4 kV to 21 kV and all related equipment
- Must live within a reasonable distance of headquarters (one hour)
- Must pass written and hands-on exam and successfully demonstrate climbing skills
- Reasonable and necessary overtime required
- Subject to callouts
- Requires working with aerial equipment, which have weight restrictions of 300 pounds or less

Registered Apprenticeship Program Criteria:
Program must have documented proof of completing related education and field hours. Journeyman level experience must be documented in writing if you are unable to provide a certificate of completion of a Registered Apprenticeship. This information will be verified.

Testing Information
Tests are administered to referred candidates. A written test (paper and pencil) will be administered, a computer-based test will be administered, and a hands-on skills test will be administered. E-mail will be the method of contact for test scheduling. Travel reimbursement may be available for out-of-state candidates.
Role TypeOnsite: Requires work to be performed in the field and/or at an APS facility. Depending on responsibilities, this may include work at a power plant, job site, or in the community. Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
