Code Enforcement Officer (Full-Time) - Community Development Department Special Requirements
Responds to and investigates complaints of code violations; issues citations for code and ordinance violations; responds to telephone inquiries from elected officials, co-workers, and general public on matters related to code interpretation; investigates and addresses complaints from the general public; performs on-site inspections of properties to determine compliance with nuisance abatement ordinances and various other city ordinances; notifies responsible party of code violations and discusses possible options to correct violation(s);
conducts follow-up inspections to determine code compliance; prepares documents of non-compliance nuisance abatement cases for court proceedings and attends court; inspects structures for potential violations of safety or sanitation; processes business license applications and renewals, reviews applications, enters business and payment data to computer and issues occupational tax certificates; processes new alcoholic beverage license applications, conducts background investigations, advertises in the newspaper, prepares agenda item for city commission;
enters data into computer, issues licenses; enforces business license regulations; assists with building inspector’s duties in his/her absence; assists with animal control officer’s duties in his/her absence; participates in professional development activities; performs other related duties as assigned.
