RN ASU (FT)
Position Summary- The Registered Nurse (RNs) in ASU will be getting patients prepped for surgery.
- Will be educating patients about the procedures and what to expect during their surgery day.
- Will be starting IV's, placing foley catheters, taking vital signs, administering medications and assisting anesthesia with blocks.
- Provides advice and emotional support to patients' families about the procedures being performed.
- Post op will be addressing patient needs during the discharge period. Will be giving out discharge instructions to patient's being discharged.
- Focuses on the overall care of patients by administering medications under the supervision of doctors and keep records of symptoms and progress.
- May supervise Patient Care Techs.
- May perform charge nurse duties after proper training.
- ASU can be a challenging and fast paced environment with a mix of patients getting readied for surgery and getting patients ready to be discharged home. The ASU RN will be expected to be ready to assist other staff within the unit when necessary.
- Being a team player is key to the success within the ASU area.
- Knowledge,

- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to move freely, reach, bend, and complete light lifting
- Ability to use good body mechanics while performing daily job functions and ability to follow specific OSHA guidelines
- Ability to maintain attendance to meet standard job practices
- Education
- RN – Associate Degree
- BSN - preferred but not required
- Licensure
- Licensed in good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing and EKG Course.
- BCLS
- Additional certifications may be required: ACLS, PALS, etc.
- Experience
- 1 - 2 years experience preferred.
- Interpersonal skills
- Positive and effective communication skills
- Essential physical requirements
- Heavy:
Exert 50 – 100 lb. of force occasionally and/or up to 30 lb. of force frequently - >75%
