RN (PRN) POSITION SUMMARY- The Registered Nurse (RN) promotes good health and prevents illness.
- Educates parents/guardians about medical conditions.
- Treats patients and assists in rehabilitation.
- Provides advice and emotional support to patients’ families.
- Uses judgment to provide a wide variety of services.
- Focuses on overall patient care by administering medications under physician supervision and maintaining records of symptoms and progress.
- May supervise LPNs and Patient Care Techs.
- Assesses and cares for newborns.
- Performs newborn screenings (hearing, CCHD, PKU, TCB) and other required newborn screenings.
- Administers phototherapy to newborns per facility policy.
- Recognizes newborn abnormalities.

- Education
- RN – Associate Degree required.
- BSN preferred.
- Licensure and Certifications
- Good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing; EKG Course completed.
- BCLS, NRP, & S.T.A.B.L.E. certifications.
- Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, etc.) may be required.
- Experience
- 1–2 years of nursing experience preferred.
- Physical Requirements
- Heavy lifting: 50–100 lb occasionally or up to 30 lb frequently (>75%).
- Other
- Basic skills per licensure/certification.
- Assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs, develops treatment plans, and implements nursing interventions.
- Performs admission assessment, verifies patient identity, allergies, NPO status, and completes orders.
- Develops and communicates realistic problem lists and care plans.
- Implements medication administration and IV care per hospital policy.
- Provides emotional support and comfort measures.
- Collects and labels specimens accurately.
- Performs glucose checks and newborn screenings.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Reassesses patient progress and alters care plans as needed.
- Performs safety and exposure control training and follows policies.
- Maintains current certifications, attends continuing education, and pursues professional growth.
- Supervises or delegates tasks to LPNs, Patient Care Techs, or other staff as appropriate.
- Demonstrates professionalism, confidentiality, and respectful communication with patients, families, and coworkers.
- Adheres to all job‑specific safety and regulatory requirements.
