ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Receives, sorts, and stores donated items in the Warehouse storage area, determines the acceptability of donated items based on established standards, assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
Key Responsibilities- Receives, inspects and sorts donated items according to the category and condition.
- Selects items suitable for storage and distributes same to appropriate storage area in accordance with established procedures.
- Tags items with dates in accordance with established procedures.
- Packs items in boxes and marks boxes; accordingly, assists in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area.
- Prepares non-suitable items for discard.
- Lifts and carry items to the appropriate destination for further processing and storage.
- Maintains inventory of items in storage; reports any known entries after hours or missing items.
- Discourages unauthorized visitors in the warehouse area; notifies supervisor immediately of the same.
- Maintains warehouse and loading dock areas in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables and work areas.
- Loads and fluffs clothes in the bailer machine to secure a solid bail of clothing with wire.
- Operates forklift to transport bail to truck.
- Ensures forklift is maintained in proper working order, fueled and ready for use; maintains service records of the same; acquires bids for repairs when necessary.
- Recycles cardboard boxes and cuts cardboard for use with the bailer machine.
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle. Work is performed in a normal store environment where there is little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

- High school diploma or G.E.D.,
AND - One (1) year working in a retail store, preferably a Salvation Army store with some experience supervising the work of co-workers,
OR - Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
