Overview
JOB TITLE: HALF-TIME MAINTENANCE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
DEPT: TECHNICAL SERVICES
SUPERVISED BY: MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR
FLSA STATUS: NONEXEMPT, HOURLY
EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: HALF-TIME (20-30 HOURS PER WEEK)
STARTING PAY: $18.00 - $22.00 PER HOUR (depending on experience & county budget)
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Maintenance Director, the Half-Time Maintenance Support Technician performs routine maintenance and repair of County grounds and facilities; assigned tasks may be completed with little or no supervision; tasks may be performed indoors and outdoors. This role supports the Technical Services Maintenance team in maintaining public facilities while adhering to safety standards. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities- SUPPORT
:
Assists with front-line maintenance for all County owned properties; assists with support, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs for incoming questions and problems related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, landscape, or various building and grounds maintenance issues. Resolves assigned work orders and follows-up on service calls. Provides end user support for new and existing systems or equipment. Adheres to standardized procedures for various Maintenance-related tasks. - SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE
:
Assists with the installation of new equipment or components, both for new systems and as part of regular systems upgrades or repairs. In coordination with the Maintenance staff, monitors building (lighting, HVAC, etc.) and grounds (irrigation) systems for continuing functionality and proactively implements updates, replaces equipment, etc. to ensure smooth operation of all systems. Provides support to the Maintenance department on infrastructure installation projects by physical support, recommending equipment purchases, maintaining up-to-date documentation, and other tasks as required. - INSPECTIONS

This position is a non-supervisory position.
Minimum Qualifications- Education/Experience
:
High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of common grounds and maintenance tools required. Prefer one (1) year building and grounds maintenance or equivalent experience. - Language Skills
:
Ability to read, interpret and write documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to explain complex technical subjects and procedures in oral and written form to customers of varying levels of technical proficiency, both in one-on-one settings and in front of a group. - Mathematical Skills
:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. - Reasoning Ability
:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions; track, schedule and prioritize multiple requests and tasks; independently assess department needs and act accordingly. - Other KSA’s (preferred):
