Welder I
Job DescriptionThe Welder I position is an Entry Level welding position within the L&L Fabrication family of welding shops. This position is required to be able interpret and execute according to various written and verbal instructions. Be willing and flexible to expand their knowledge base into other avenues of operational practice; welding, processing, fitting, prep work, and other duties as required throughout the tenure in this role.
This is a full-time role with opportunities for skill and role advancement. This role will be based out of the Douglas, WY shop and will have a work schedule in alignment with business needs.
Rate of Pay – $20.00 to $24.00hr
L &L Fabrication is an ASME Code vessel shop Holding U and R stamps. We offer ASME-coded work built to spec, along with repairs and maintenance on used pressure-rated equipment. L &L Fabrication, INC strives on quality work, meeting deadlines, and keeping everyone on the site safe. A high emphasis on safety, quality, and on time delivery.
Expected Roles/Responsibilities- Weld Non-Code articles to satisfactory quality
- GMAW and FCAW
- Process Materials with accuracy and efficiency
- Oxy-fuel, Plasma, Saw, Mag-Drill, and Grinder
- Use all shop and personal tooling safely and appropriately.
- Drive a forklift safely and appropriately.
- Participate in team setting that will develop and build welding and fabrication ability.
- Provide a SAFE team member that is accountable, respectful, and empowered to introduce new opportunities for getting the job done.
- Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
- Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
- Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
- Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
- Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
- Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- 1G – FLAT Fillet GMAW or FCAW – Visual inspection and Assessment only
- Welding Experience

- Operational understanding or appreciation for a manufacturing environment

- Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
- Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
- Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
- Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at any time, 50 pounds regularly, 100 infrequently.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
