SALARY: $17.20/hr ($35,787.65 annual salary)

SUMMARY – GUEST SERVICES
This is responsible paraprofessional work in support of the Parks and Recreation programs, activities, and events. The position reports to the Recreation Superintendent and is responsible for assisting the general public with reservations and information regarding the various classes, leagues, events, and facilities including gyms, parks and other meeting sites organized by Douglas County Parks and Recreation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting guests and callers with park programs, special events and other related parks and recreation matters
    • Answering all incoming calls quickly, professionally, and pleasantly
    • Answering questions about available programs, leagues, reservations, etc.
    • Answering questions regarding fee structures, permits, requirements, etc.
    • Referring guests and callers to appropriate staff member if necessary
    • Logging and forwarding messages, requests, or complaints to appropriate staff member
  • Interacting with individuals utilizing the park and related facilities
    • Maintaining a professional, friendly, efficient, and safe environment at all times
    • Maintaining clean and organized work space and guest area
    • Providing clear explanation of rules, regulations, and standards
    • Monitoring activities of Park and other facilities
    • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring proper guest behavior and appropriate clean up by guests and rental groups/parties
    • May be responsible for daily follow-up of rental/reservation activities
    • Abiding by and enforcing safety guidelines and requirements
    • Completing Incident Reports for any injuries or incidents as needed and submitting to supervisor immediately
    • Reporting any and all problems immediately to supervisor and/or security as needed
  • Performing general administrative tasks involved in the daily operation
    • Collecting fees and providing receipts for all transactions; reconciling totals
    • Maintaining accurate records and files
    • Completing forms, documents, and reports as required
    • Ensuring all Parks and Recreation publications and promotional material are stocked, displayed, and available at all times
    • Copying documents, typing correspondence, sending and receiving faxes; filing documents, processing incoming and outgoing mail
    • Monitoring and controlling inventory of office supplies, cleaning supplies, first aid materials, etc.
  • Interacting with Rec1 software
    • Teaching public and answering questions on how to use the Rec1 website
    • Using Rec1 to maintain records of users, activities, reservations, etc.
    • Maintaining accurate and up to date records of registrants, programs, leagues, reservations, etc.
    • Identifying problems or inaccuracies and reporting them immediately
  • Assisting in activities, special events, etc.
    • Assisting in special event planning and production
    • Assisting Program Coordinators in transporting groups during outings, field trips, special events, etc.
    • Providing monthly reports/rosters to Program Coordinators of classes, activities, etc.
  • All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents
  • Performing other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED, supplemented by college-level or vocational coursework in a related field
  • Two years professional related work experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Eligibility Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License (Class

    C) and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certified
  • Other duty-specific certifications may be required during employment to satisfy specific assigned duties and responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of professional office practices, methods and equipment.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and software.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the Department of Parks and Recreation policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of County Ordinances as related to Parks and Recreation.
  • Knowledge and ability to adjust/prepare equipment, classes and programs.
  • Skill in typing and performing data-entry work.
  • Skill in performing tasks which require attention to detail.
  • Ability to apply common sense to understand, follow, and complete verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to plan and organize work.
  • Ability to read and comprehend routine instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to work, communicate, and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, supervisors, participants, parents, coaches, and the general public.
