Global Business Consulting (GBC) is the consulting arm of American Express Global Business Travel. GBC brings the talent, tools and management consulting skills needed to lead our client’s T&E spend and improve their return on investment. GBC focuses on business and operational strategy, strategic sourcing and program optimization to help our clients manage their travel spend. Our specialized expertise includes:
Policy, Change Management & Compliance, Travel Program Management, Business Intelligence, Travel Category Management (Air, Car and Hotel) and outsourced travel management
The GBC team consists of Consultants from a wide variety of backgrounds such as Air/Hotel/Ground industries, travel, management consulting, IT consulting and general management.
The primary area of focus for the position will be related to the Hotel practice line which spans corporate hotel program strategy design and execution including sourcing, program compliance, and optimization.
What You'll DoLead Multi-Workstream Engagements:
Execute complex consulting projects across multiple clients, prioritizing objectives and applying project management methodologies to deliver results within scope, quality standards, and timelinesApply Hotel Subject Matter Expertise:
Leverage deep knowledge of hotel program strategy, sourcing, and RFP tools (Cvent, Sabre RFP, Ready Bid) to drive client program optimization and complianceDevelop Data-Driven Insights:
Analyze TMC travel data and supplier/third-party data to develop hypotheses, validate analyses, and create compelling recommendations that drive client ROICreate Custom Models & Scenarios:
Build data visualizations and custom models using available datasets to support strategic decision-making and client presentationsManage Global Supplier Relationships:
Lead supplier partnerships while representing both client and consultancy interests, navigating complex negotiations and maintaining strategic alignmentMentor Consulting Analysts:
Partner with and guide junior team members, fostering their development while ensuring engagement quality and practice line growthDrive Client Value & Retention:
Successfully navigate large global organizations, articulate project value to all stakeholder levels, and identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities to drive revenue growthImplement Organizational Change:
Apply change management techniques to drive sustainable engagement impact, ensuring client adoption and long-term program successDistill Complex Strategy into Key Messages:
Communicate sophisticated subject matter clearly to team members and clients, translating analysis into actionable insights
Consulting & Hotel Strategy
Experience:
3-5 years in traditional consulting and/or hotel strategy, sourcing, and optimization rolesTravel Industry Knowledge:
Demonstrated experience and understanding of the travel industry, including corporate travel programs and dynamicsAdvanced Analytical
Skills:
Strong ability to think conceptually, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions using data interpretation and presentationData Visualization Proficiency:
Expertise with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Birst, Power BI, or similar platformsHotel Platform Expertise:
Experience managing hotel programs through platforms such as Cvent and related sourcing toolsFinancial & Business Operations Acumen:
Knowledge of strategy, financial/business operations, and cost managementMicrosoft Office Mastery:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with strong concentration in Excel and Power PointExceptional Communication
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver compelling internal and external presentations to diverse audiencesEducation & Credentials:
Bachelor's degree required; MBA strongly preferred; PMI certification a plus
