The RoleThis in‑house legal counsel role supports Lumen’s Enterprise Sales organization, advising on complex customer transactions in a fast‑paced results‑driven environment where how we achieve results is just as important as the results themselves.
You will own the legal execution of enterprise deals end‑to‑end—partnering with sales and business leaders to structure, negotiate, and close transactions that support revenue growth while managing appropriate risks to enable success. As a key partner to go‑to‑market teams, you will help accelerate deal velocity and enable evolving technology and connectivity solutions.
This is a highly visible role where legal operates as a strategic business partner. Success requires strong judgment, clear communication, and the ability to translate complexity into practical guidance that moves the business forward.
Responsibilities- Lead end‑to‑end negotiation of enterprise agreements (e.g., MSAs, SOWs, and other customized commercial terms) from redline through execution
- Advise business stakeholders on contract terms, risk, and deal strategy to enable informed decisions
- Structure complex transactions, aligning legal frameworks with commercial objectives to support deal execution
- Identify key legal and business risks across customer deals, and communicate clear, actionable recommendations
- Partner cross‑functionally (compliance, regulatory, IP, product, international teams) to support enterprise sales and GTM strategies
- Develop and refine contract templates, playbooks, and scalable processes to streamline deal cycles
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school
- Active license in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Law firm and/or in‑house experience
- Strong drafting and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, practical legal guidance to business stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of matters and competing priorities, with strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Sound business judgment and ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives
- Collaborative, team‑oriented approach with strong stakeholder partnership skills
- Experience in negotiating commercial terms
- Interest in emerging technologies and digital infrastructure
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location‑Based Pay Ranges:
$105,786 - $141,047 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
$111,074 - $148,099 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$116,364 - $155,152 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
