Summary Statement
The College wide Multimedia Designer creates and delivers multimedia content and provides audiovisual support for events across the College’s conference venues. They operate and maintain the digital video wall, control room, and related AV systems to ensure high-quality in-person and hybrid presentations. Working closely with event planners, campus departments, and external partners, the incumbent develops visually engaging, accessible solutions that meet institutional branding standards and effectively support high-visibility programs.
Nature and Scope
Reporting to the Director of Audio-Visual Administration, the incumbent leads the technical planning and execution of mission-critical productions—developing multimedia and run-of-show materials, coordinating rehearsals, implementing redundancy, and serving as the escalation point—to enhance events and ensure quality. The role delivers advanced training for faculty, students, and technical staff; authors standards and documentation; and manages inventories, lifecycle plans, and spares. The incumbent supports budgeting and procurement by drafting specifications, evaluating solutions, and ensuring compliance with institutional standards.
They provide senior-level expertise, work direction, and mentorship to A/V staff and represent the department in stakeholder consultations to align experience goals with accurate technical design and delivery.
Principal Accountabilities
- Designs, develops, and produces multimedia materials including digital graphics, motion visuals, video content, and presentation elements for display on the venue’s digital video wall, multi-display systems, and other audiovisual platforms.
- Operates and maintains the conference venue’s control room and audiovisual systems, including cameras, lighting, projection, sound reinforcement, and streaming technologies to support live and hybrid events.
- Coordinates multimedia and technical requirements with College departments, event organizers, and external clients to ensure successful execution of conferences, meetings, and special events.
- Configures, tests, and operates audiovisual and control systems before, during, and after events, ensuring reliable performance and minimal disruption.
- Manages and schedules digital content for the College’s venues consisting of multi-display and digital video wall, ensuring consistency with the College’s brand identity, accessibility guidelines, and visual communication standards.
- Captures, edits, and produces recordings and photography of events for archival, instructional, or promotional purposes.
- Maintains an inventory of multimedia and audiovisual equipment, ensuring proper care, calibration, and preventative maintenance of all systems.
- Assists in the development and documentation of operational procedures for multimedia production, event setup, and control room operations.
- Provides on-site technical support and troubleshooting during live events to resolve multimedia or audiovisual issues promptly and effectively.
- Researches and recommends emerging multimedia and audiovisual technologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of the conference venue’s presentation capabilities.
- Works closely with the AV Department and Classroom Technology as needed regarding college-wide AV Systems.
- Assists in preparing the annual budget and in writing specifications for the purchase of equipment and maintaining inventories of equipment and spare parts.
