Position: Middle School Math Teacher 26-27 SY

Middle School ~ Math Teacher (10-month position)

Reports to:

Head of School or Designee

Qualifications
  • Certification in middle level, or secondary content area required. Special education certification is a plus.
  • Qualify, at the time of hire, for State of Delaware Certification required.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college.
  • Employment with the Academy of Dover is contingent upon successful completion of:

  • Adherence to Academy Policies and Procedures
Responsibilities
  • Effectively teach middle school Mathematics.
  • Effectively collaborate with staff, students, and parents/guardians.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and relationship building skills.
  • Execute the day‑to‑day operations of the classroom, including: engaging differentiated instruction, lesson planning, conducting student assessments, classroom management, and parent/guardian communication.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Attend weekly PLC meetings and review analytical data pertaining to academic performance.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Assess academic accomplishments and areas of concern for students on a regular basis and provide reports as required.
  • Work with the special education coordinator to provide an appropriate setting and level of instruction for students with additional needs to include an Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Attend and support after‑school meetings and Academy‑wide events.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
