Minimum Qualifications- Current DE teaching licenses - Elementary (K-6) and World Language (K-12)
- ACTFL Oral proficiency of "Advanced Mid" in Spanish
- Previous teaching experience preferred
The Spanish immersion teacher will teach two half-day sessions in Math, Science, Social Studies and Literacy in Spanish. He/she will work with an English partner teacher who will primarily be responsible for teaching Language Arts in English. The two classes of children will consist primarily of English-speaking children learning Spanish. The Spanish immersion teacher will be expected to collaborate with the English partner teacher and both will have the opportunity to attend trainings on district and state levels.
The Spanish immersion teacher must be prepared to:
- Collaborate with English partner teacher
- Adapt lesson plans for second language learners
- Accommodate visitors to the classroom
- Meet with parents from both classes for Parent/Teacher/Student conferences and workshops
- Establish and maintain an open basis of communication with students, parents, staff and administration
- Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day consistent with contract obligations
- Assume other duties as assigned
