Summer School Special Education Teachers - 2026


Terms of Employment: June 24 - Aug. 6 (Monday - Thursday)
time will be site specific

Reports to: Building Principal

Salary: Capital Employees - per diem rate
Non-Capital Employees - standard teacher rate of $39.76 per hour (must show proof of teacher certification)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current or eligible to hold Delaware certification as a special education teacher
  • Experience with students who have moderate to severe disabilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teach students with disabilities
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual need, interests and abilities of the students
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary
  • Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialist as required
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift an/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Standard Requirements:
  • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
  • Tuberculin Test and physical
  • Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
