Educational Training Specialist

Overview

We are looking for a qualified instructor to teach English Language Arts (ELA) courses to high school students during the six-week Upward Bound Summer Academy. The program runs from June 22, 2026 through August 1, 2026, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The ideal candidate should have experience teaching English Language Arts (ELA) and working with high school students.

This position offers up to 29 hours per week. Salary $45.60/hour.

• Conduct and teach English Language Arts courses to high school students as assigned during the Upward Bound Summer Academy.
• Develop and implement curricula and lesson plans aligned with program goals.
• Provide tutoring and advisement to participants as necessary to support successful program completion.
• Maintain participant records, including progress and attendance, and prepare evaluations as required.
• Collaborate with other faculty and staff to support department operations and program objectives.

• Knowledge of teaching techniques and methods.
• Knowledge of relevant subject matter in English Language Arts.
• Knowledge of counseling skills and techniques.
• Knowledge of community resources and means to access these resources.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to develop rapport with students and staff.
• Ability to communicate subject matter content effectively and relate to a diverse population in a multicultural environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Four (4) years of relevant experience.
