POLYTECH School District is now accepting applications for School Psychologist. Closing date for application is until successfully filled. Date of employment is for the 2026-27 school year. POLYTECH School District seeks experienced candidates with strong interpersonal skills to join our high school team. As a School Psychologist, you will carry out a variety of activities outlined below.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide high quality student-centered supports to POLYTECH students.
  • Assess needs of students through appropriate assessment and diagnostic practices and collaborate with school staff and administrators to develop appropriate supports, services, and/or interventions.
  • Coordinate the Child-Find process and recommend testing and/or services.
  • Assist with coordinating related services provision.
  • Serve as consultant for counselors to determine student eligibility for initial 504 plans.
  • Consult with school staff concerning special education and 504 plan students' needs.
  • Participate in PST meetings.
  • Collaborate with administration to develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Collaborate with school staff to develop MTSS Tier 1 intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate with school staff for MTSS Tier 2 and Tier 3 identification, placement and programming.
  • Coordinate and administer diagnostic testing and recommend placement for all students with disabilities and students with behavioral interventions.
  • Upon administrator request coordinate and administer diagnostic testing and recommend placement for all referred (unidentified) students.
  • Issue Permission To Evaluate forms.
  • Conduct and write Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) reports.
  • Conduct student observations and write reports.
  • Conduct evaluations and write Evaluation Summary Reports (ESRs).
  • Write Prior Written Notice (PWN) reports as required.
  • Maintain case records on all students referred for special education services.
  • Review all incoming 9th grade students' ESRs and recommend adoption or revision; coordinate adoption and revision processes.
  • Evaluate the relationship between behavior and a disability, complete Manifestation Determination Reports, and participate in manifestation meetings.
  • Support and monitor development and provision of accommodations for eligible students.
  • Assist with needs-based funding unit count.
  • Manage SSD Online Disability Accommodation Management System data entry and coordinate statewide assessment accommodation services for students with disabilities.
  • Identify program needs and collaborate with school staff to develop appropriate programs for students receiving Diploma of Alternate Achievement Standards.
  • Participate in IEP meetings.
  • Participate in 504 plan meetings as requested.
  • Provide group and/or individual facilitative therapy for students with behavioral needs.
  • Support safe, healthy and supportive learning environments.
  • Support lead teacher to provide special education training, professional learning and staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with school staff to support appropriate mental health strategies and practices.
  • Collaborate with special education lead teacher and administrator to develop, update, and carry out special education policies.
  • Collaborate with school staff to develop and carry out school-wide intervention strategies.
  • Attend state special education meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate services with other agencies.
  • Participate in interagency meetings.
  • Collaborate with community health and social welfare agencies to ensure appropriate student supports.
  • Prepare and submit required reports for outside agencies including, but not limited to, DOE, DYRS, DVR, and DDDS.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Demonstrate and model respect for individuals and responsible citizenship.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Comply with federal and state laws and regulations and with district policies.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Education:

    NASP or APA School Psychology Degree, or complete a state-approved school psychology program.
  • Licensure and Certification:
    Must meet Delaware requirements for licensure and certification(s) in accordance with Delaware Professional Standards Board regulations.
  • Preferred experience includes:
    • Experience developing and delivering individual and group counseling services to adolescents.
    • Experience developing standards-based IEP and 504 goals.
    • Experience assessing, counseling, and developing interventions for individuals across the lifespan.
    • Minimum of three years' experience as a school psychologist in a high school setting.
  • Essential knowledge, skills and behaviors include:
