CTE Microschool Paraprofessional 26-27 SY

The future is brighter than ever for Odyssey Charter School, and we are in search of highly motivated, equally passionate individuals to join our team. Odyssey is a full-scale K–12 Charter School currently serving 2,500+ students. Our school features a growing dual immersion program, an innovative Green Initiative, a community food program, and strong academic outcomes. Odyssey is united in its mission to prepare lifelong learners who are culturally aware, global citizens who utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills grounded in the classical teachings of Greek education and language.

Through the Socratic Method and inquiry-based learning, students are empowered to leverage their unique skills and talents in an equitable and collaborative environment where all students can succeed.

Job Summary

Odyssey Charter School is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and culturally responsive individual for the role of Computer and Science Technology Paraprofessional. Unlike a traditional instructional paraprofessional role, the Computer Science & Technology Learning Guide serves as an instructional partner and project facilitator who helps students engage in authentic, hands-on learning experiences within Odyssey's Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathway. Working alongside an experienced Lead Teacher, the Learning Guide plays an active role in bringing the Computer Science & Technology program to life by facilitating project-based learning, coaching students through challenges, supporting lesson implementation, and helping cultivate an engaging, innovation-focused learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Computer Science & Technology Learning Guide will:

  • Facilitate engaging, project-based learning experiences that promote creativity, inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Coach students as they design, build, test, revise, and present authentic technology projects.
  • Foster a classroom culture that encourages experimentation, perseverance, innovation, and student ownership.
  • Prepare instructional materials, technology resources, and project components that support daily learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to develop lessons, projects, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary learning experiences.
  • Contribute ideas to curriculum development, pathway design, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support students in developing technical, professional, and transferable workplace skills.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage student confidence, engagement, and independence.
  • Help facilitate partnerships with community members, industry professionals, and local organizations when appropriate.
  • Assist with student showcases, exhibitions, competitions, and other authentic demonstrations of learning.
  • Model professionalism, collaboration, lifelong learning, and adaptability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Core Competencies

Successful Learning Guides demonstrate:

  • A growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning alongside students.
  • Strong facilitation skills that encourage inquiry rather than simply providing answers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
  • Confidence managing project-based, student-centered learning environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with colleagues, students, families, and community partners.
  • Initiative and an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfort integrating technology into learning experiences.
  • A commitment to equity, inclusion, and ensuring all students feel valued and capable.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Success in this role is demonstrated through:

  • High levels of student engagement during project-based learning experiences.
  • Effective facilitation that increases student ownership, collaboration, and independence.
  • Well-prepared instructional environments that support meaningful hands-on learning.
  • Consistent collaboration with the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing instruction.
  • Positive student relationships that foster confidence, curiosity, and persistence.
  • Active contributions to curriculum refinement, project development, and pathway innovation.
  • Successful implementation of authentic learning experiences, exhibitions, and community-connected projects.
  • Professional growth through ongoing learning, coaching, and reflection.
  • Reliable organization, communication, and follow-through in daily responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate believes learning happens through exploration, creativity, and meaningful work. They see themselves as a facilitator rather than the sole expert, helping students ask thoughtful questions, discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and build confidence as learners. They are excited by emerging technologies, innovation, and the opportunity to help shape an educational model that prepares students for future careers. They thrive in collaborative…
