Position: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, GRADES K-5 (3 positions)

Special Education Teacher, Grades K-5

Our manageable caseloads allow educators to build meaningful relationships with students. Teachers are provided with XXX minutes of weekly planning time. Qualification/Experience

Required:

  • Must hold an active, valid Delaware License and Special Education Teacher Certification (K-12) in accordance with 14 Del.

    C. § 1531
  • Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of special education laws and requirements
  • Successful completion of Praxis II exams

Qualifications Desired But Not

Required:

  • Certified in Elementary Education
  • Experience in an Elementary School classroom
  • Experience in creating and implementing IEPs
  • Data collection experience
  • Experience in the implementation of research-based math and reading interventions
  • Experience in accommodating and modifying curriculum

Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:

  • Effectively support a caseload of students receiving special education services offering access to the general education curricula through adaptations outlined in the student's IEP.
  • Develop and support the implementation of an Individual Education Plans (IEP) based on state and federal regulations
  • Creates a safe and engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all students.
  • Collect and use data to monitor the progress of student's goals
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to provide access to content standards and materials for a student receiving special education services
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction using research-based best practices
  • Provide equitable access for students with disabilities through instructional and behavioral supports
  • Remain up to date with best practices for creating and implementing IEPs
  • Maintain an open line of communication with families about student progress regularly
  • Performs other duties as assigned
