Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for developing and improving curricula, instructing assigned courses, evaluating student learning, and fostering student success.
- Plan, organize, and instruct courses as assigned by the Department Chairperson/supervisor using effective instructional strategies, LMS, classroom management, leadership, and educational technology to promote student success. Normal teaching contact hours are 18 per week.
- Demonstrate best practices in instruction and classroom management responsive to students’ diverse academic needs.
- Use instructional technology, including multimedia, to meet learning objectives.
- Assist or lead in planning and/or developing new curriculum and courses; evaluate and revise existing curriculum; contribute to program review.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment (SLOA).
- Serve as an advisor for students, utilizing advisement strategies and tools to promote retention and progression.
- Assist students toward successful completion of courses by providing outreach, guidance, feedback, supplemental instruction, tutoring, and other approved academic support.
- Maintain accessibility to students; provide a minimum of six posted office hours per week.
- Maintain timely and accurate student records, including grades, progress, and attendance.
- Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to facilitate department and college operations.
- Assist in attaining and maintaining program accreditation.
- Complete the New Faculty Development Program (NFDP) during the one‑year probationary period and, if required, the Instructional Design Technology Certificate.
- Engage in continuous professional development to remain current within the nursing discipline.
- Participate in departmental, campus, and college meetings; serve on committees; advise student clubs as assigned.
- Participate in developing and implementing college policies, objectives, and functions, including program planning, marketing, budget development, and public relations.
- Provide support for operations, events, and processes that enhance recruitment, enrollment, advisement, transfer, and employment as assigned.
- Participate in day, evening, and weekend program staffing as requested.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum four (4) years of nursing experience with a primary focus in adult medical‑surgical settings.
- Valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Delaware or a compact state at the time of application and during employment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nursing subject matter, teaching methods, clinical skills, and protocols; ability to communicate subject matter to a diverse population.
- Ability to function in a clinical setting without limitation; meeting required functions for a clinical faculty member.
- Required vaccines and clearance required by the facility;
Minimum BSN; 4 years of maternity experience. - Proficiency in computers and electronic instructional methodology; knowledge of competency‑based learning.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
