Educational Training Specialist – Certified Nursing Assistant

Incumbent will be responsible for teaching Certified Nursing Assistant courses to adult learners and high‑school students. The hours will depend on course needs.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years registered nurse experience, including at least one year in a federal skilled nursing home facility or in a Delaware licensed nursing facility. Applicants must also have a minimum of one year teaching experience.

Summary Statement

An incumbent is responsible for conducting and/or teaching workshops, seminars, and courses; evaluating participants; developing and implementing curricula; providing individual tutoring, advisement, and counseling services to Workforce Development and Community Education Division participants/students; and supporting division activities.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Conduct workshops, seminars, and courses, utilizing effective communication and teaching techniques.
  • Develop new programs, workshops, seminars, and courses and syllabi; evaluate and revise existing programs.
  • Select, maintain, and use materials, supplies, and equipment required for effective teaching.
  • Maintain adequate participant/student records, including intake test results and counseling notes; evaluate and report participants’ progress and attendance; prepare and submit evaluations as required.
  • Provide objective advisement and tutoring to participants/students to assist in successful program completion.
  • Schedule, post, and maintain office hours to aid participants’ progress.
  • Work as a team with faculty and staff to facilitate routine department operations and achieve departmental goals and objectives; assist in attaining program accreditation.
  • Participate in departmental, campus, and college meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Assist in developing proposals, program budgets, establishing public relations, and facilitating routine department operations.
  • Assist with extra‑curricular client activities as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of teaching techniques and methods.
    • Knowledge of relevant subject matter in the incumbent’s discipline/department.
    • Knowledge of counseling skills and techniques.
    • Knowledge of community resources and how to access them.
    • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to develop rapport with students and staff.
    • Ability to effectively communicate subject matter content and relate to a diverse population in a multicultural environment.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
    • Four (4) years of relevant experience, including experience working in a long‑term care facility.
    • Current Delaware RN license.
