Note:
All staff are hired by Milford School District rather than a specific building. Final placement is subject to change based on district staffing needs.
The paraprofessional supports student learning by working collaboratively with the classroom teacher to implement curriculum, deliver academic instruction, and promote student success in a positive learning environment. Under the direction of certified staff, the paraprofessional assists with whole-group, small-group, and individual instruction, reinforces academic and behavioral expectations, and provides instructional and classroom support to meet the diverse needs of all students.
The paraprofessional also supports the implementation of special education services by assisting students with disabilities in accessing accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies identified in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under the direction of certified staff. This position helps maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment while supporting the effective implementation of district curriculum, instructional practices, and student success.
Eligible for Delaware Paraprofessional Certification through one of the following:
High School Diploma plus passing the Paraprofessional Assessment, or Completion of at least two years (60 credits) at an institution of higher learning, or Associate's degree or higher
Support academic instruction by working collaboratively with the classroom teacher to implement district-approved curriculum and instructional strategies. Assist in delivering whole-group, small-group, and individual instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher. Reinforce academic concepts and learning objectives through teacher-directed lessons and activities. Implement curriculum and instructional materials as directed to support student learning and achievement. Assist with instructional activities for individual students or groups as assigned.
Support instruction across grade levels as directed. Record data related to individual student progress and goals. Adapt and modify instructional activities and materials to meet student needs. Adjust instructional methods in response to student abilities and developmental levels. Reinforce academic skills and appropriate behaviors as taught by the teacher. Respond to student behavioral needs with respect and appropriateness. Monitor student activities and behavior to ensure safety and adherence to school expectations.
Support students in accessing accommodations, modifications, and interventions as directed by the teacher and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP), when applicable. Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, staff, and families. Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Ten-month (10) full-time employee. Salary:
Salary schedule is based on experience and degree and can be found on the district website.
