Note:

All staff are hired by Milford School District rather than a specific building. Final placement is subject to change based on district staffing needs.

Overview of the Program:
This paraprofessional position supports the educational needs of all students across a variety of instructional settings. Working under the direction of the classroom teacher, the paraprofessional provides assistance to individual students, small groups, and whole-class instruction to promote student learning and success. The role also includes primarily supporting literacy instruction by reinforcing foundational reading, writing, language, and communication skills; assisting with the implementation of instructional activities;

monitoring student progress; collecting instructional data; and helping maintain a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment. Strong collaboration with teachers and staff, flexibility in meeting the diverse needs of students, and a commitment to ongoing professional development are essential. This position plays a vital role in fostering academic growth and ensuring all students have access to meaningful learning opportunities.

Qualifications:

Eligible for Delaware Paraprofessional Certification through one of the following:
High School Diploma plus passing the Paraprofessional Assessment, or Completion of at least two years (60 credits) at an institution of higher learning, or Associate's degree or higher

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a school-wide paraprofessional, providing instructional support across grade levels, classrooms, and educational settings as assigned.
  • Assist primarily with literacy instruction and instructional activities for individual students, small groups, and whole-class instruction.
  • Reinforce reading, writing, language, and other academic skills or content using teacher-directed instructional strategies.
  • Adapt instructional activities and materials to meet student learning needs.
  • Monitor and record student progress toward instructional goals and assist teachers in evaluating student growth.
  • Adjust instructional support in response to student abilities and developmental levels.
  • Reinforce appropriate behaviors and respond to student behavioral needs with professionalism and respect.
  • Monitor student activities and behavior to ensure a safe, positive learning environment and adherence to school expectations.
  • Assist students with classroom routines, organization, and transitions as needed.
  • Establish and maintain positive, cooperative relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Participate in professional learning related to literacy instruction, instructional practices, and student support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:
Ten-month (10) full-time employee.

Salary:
Salary schedule is based on experience and degree and can be found on the district website.
