Secondary Special Education Teacher
This is a 10 month position, temporary if hired after contractual start date for teachers. Reports to the Principal. Salary is based on the current teacher salary schedule. Minimum qualifications include current or eligible Delaware certification as a special education teacher, with experience in secondary level students who have moderate to severe physical disabilities. Autism certification is preferred.
Essential duties and responsibilities include teaching students with severe to profound disabilities, planning a program of study that meets individual needs, preparing for classes assigned, encouraging students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, employing a variety of instructional techniques and media, assessing student accomplishments, managing with multiple classroom support staff, creating lesson plans, conducting ongoing assessments, maintaining data for alternative assessments, collecting and evaluating data across all domains of learning, designing and implementing behavior support plans, maintaining accurate records, and being available to students and parents for educational related purposes outside the instructional day.
Physical demands include handling, reaching, talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and specific vision abilities.
Standard requirements include a favorable criminal background check and child abuse registry check, a tuberculin test and physical, and mandatory direct deposit of paycheck.

Teacher of Exceptional Children Grades K-12.
