Eastern Industrial Services is seeking a dynamic and detail‑oriented Construction Financial Controller to lead and oversee the financial operations of our construction projects. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of financial planning, reporting, and compliance within the construction environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in accounting principles, regulatory standards, and financial management practices to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cash management, and adherence to industry regulations.
As a key member of our team, you will drive financial strategy, optimize resource allocation, and support sustainable growth across multiple construction initiatives.
- Lead and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, job costing, payroll, AP/AR, and financial reporting
- Supervise and develop a team of 3 accounting professionals
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain and monitor WIP schedules and ensure accurate percentage-of-completion accounting
- Partner with project managers to ensure accurate job cost tracking and forecasting
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and construction‑specific accounting standards
- Manage external relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
- Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes and systems
- Serve as a key financial advisor to the CEO and leadership team
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (advanced degree or accounting certification preferred)
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in commercial construction in an investor‑backed environment.
- Experience working in a company with $10M–$50M in revenue
- Proven ability to implement process improvements and drive efficiencies
- Experience working closely with executive leadership
- Strong expertise in:
- Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting
- Percentage-of-completion accounting
- Job costing and project-based accounting
- Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
- Hands‑on experience with Foundation Software (strongly preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
