Duties
* Plans, organizes, and executes a wide range of complex activities for AFMAO's Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP), and the Exercise and Evaluation Program.
* Serves as Pertinent Oversight Authority (POA) and
Functional Area
Manager (FAM) of Mortuary Officer responsibilities for both Air and Space Force.
* Performs duties as AFMAO's readiness program manager. Attends planning and organizational meetings as required.
* Serves as the Air Force's lead Cemetery responsible official. Assists in developing Air Force and DOD cemetery policies and strategies. Requirements Conditions of employment

* This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
* Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends. Position subject to recall on a 7-day, 24-hour basis and must carry AFMAO provided cell phone/PDA after normal duty hours.

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* This position is designated as a KEY position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/ contingency operations.
* Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
* Position subject to recall and/or standby due to exercises, natural disaster, hazardous emergencies and/ or real-world contingencies. Overtime may be required.
* Recall includes ability to report to designate work center and/or supervisor within an hour of notification.
* Standby requires ability to answer a communications device (ie: landline, telephone, cell phone) within four rings receive instructions and respond as necessary.
* The work involves working around human remains, formaldehyde, and associated sights and smells. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes (1) In-depth knowledge of Air Force, Headquarters Air Force and Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations Programs, with the ability to support and execute program goals, policies and objectives, (2) Applying knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and precedents governing the use of program resources and related support sources to effectively support Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations Programs mission requirements (3) Knowledge of military command structure, organizational relationships, and program goals and objectives, including the sequence and timing of key operational events and milestones, and methods used to evaluate effectiveness of planning actions in relation to operational outcomes.
(4) Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analytical methods used to assess and improve program effectiveness, including the evaluation of complex management processes, organizational systems, and operational performance. OR
EDUCATION:
Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position.
