Duties The Primary Purpose of this position is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position located at an Air Force Reserve Flying Squadron. The purpose of this position is to manage the total operations function of the squadron on a daily basis. DUTY 1:
Responsible to the Operations Group Commander, Senior ART/Air Commander (as appropriate) for all matters pertaining to operational readiness and effectiveness of the unit. Directs all operations and maintenance training programs for the Squadron. Provides advice and assistance in the execution or preparation of operational policies and procedures. Duty 2:
Implements flying and ground training requirements. Analyzes directives from higher headquarters and information available in form of accident reports and mission readiness reports in order to develop operational plans, standard operating procedures, and implementing instructions pertaining to General Military Training of Squadron personnel, electronic warfare, tactics training, flight operations, intelligence, and command center communications training. Coordinates with other staff officers and organizations in the preparation and implementation of operational plans.
DUTY 3:
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Advises Group Commander on recommended selections for subordinate supervisory positions; makes selections of candidates for non-supervisory vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO and diversity objectives.
DUTY 4:
Represents the Air Force Reserve to dignitaries and high ranking personnel during unit visits and while performing duty at or away from home station. Must display exceptional professionalism, expertise, courtesy, and decorum during contacts and duty performance. DUTY 5:
As required, flies as an aircrew member in unit aircraft. May perform duties as a flight instructor or flight examiner as deemed appropriate by the Aircraft Operations Officer/Air Commander. The nature of flying activities which the incumbent must master is dictated by war plans, enemy threats, classified intelligence gathering, and gaining MAJCOM training requirements. * Must be a current member of the AF Reserves or willing/qualified to join
* A security clearance may be required

* Total salary varies depending on location of position
* This posn is subject to provision of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* Must sign a mobility agreement
* Retired military are usually ineligible for membership in the Air Force Reserve. Retired military personnel who have active Air Force Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position and unit) on their application.
* Position may be subject to random drug testing
* Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
* Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
* Employee must maintain current certifications

EXPERIENCE:
No specific length of experience required. The qualifications of Airplane/Helicopter Pilots or Airplane/Helicopter Flight Instructors in an Air Force active duty and Reserve force are directly related to the completion of prerequisite training and number of flying hours rather than years of experience. GS-14:
Must have logged 1,500 or more total pilot time (i.e., accumulation of primary, secondary, instructor, evaluator, simulator and student time) (
